Exploring the hidden side of my back yard.

My husband and I have a new hobby, finding walks close to home that are still adventures. We are keeping away from well-known places that attract large numbers of people and this has paid off. Who would have thought that we could find a castle in the middle of the woods in South East London? Or finding woods with trees dating back to the ice age - but with a downhill track, complete with berms and jumps!In our first tour, we came across Severndroog Castle, an elegantly preserved Gothic tower situated on Shooter’s Hill, one of the highest points in London. The 18th-century castle has a viewing platform with splendid 360° views across London. It is so much fun to be an explorer in your own backyard. Find spots that don’t require a long drive and, for the moment, where social distancing can be achieved.
