e-MTB Ian (ipearce1)

60 years on the planet, not cycled for a couple of decades, bought my new Wisper 905 in April 23, I did over 1200 miles in 4 months. Good Hybrid bike but not up to the tougher routes I tend to take.
*UPDATE* I now have my dream bike a Merida E-One Forty-700 full suspension e-mtb 😃 made for the off-road trekking I prefer! Unfortunately, my Wisper 905 was a hybrid but not made for the routes I preferred (I kept breaking things), my daughter now joins me occasionally on the 905, on the less arduous routes so the 905 is still being used, and also handy for shopping runs 😉
I have recently lost my wife of over 30 years and felt the need to get out and about, started hiking again after a long break (which I enjoy a lot) unfortunately my hips & back and other joints did not enjoy this as much as I did as I have ankylosing spondylitis (sort of like arthritis).
I will still do some short hiking but I find e-biking less painful on my joints as it’s non-weight bearing.
I am semi-retired from the NHS, I am a nurse in Urgent Care at my local hospital but now do only one 12-hour shift a week, a much better work-life balance!
Hope to see you all out on the trails of Wiltshire and beyond, I have cycled several Cornish and Devon routes including Bodmin Moor & Dartmoor.
I have biking holidays booked for May 2024 around Fort William and another in Cornwall in September 2024.

*update the Merida has clocked up 2400 miles from July 2023 & up to March 2024 + the 905s 1200 miles so in total biking miles are just over 3600 miles in my first year e-MTB-ing*
So far the Shimano battery died in October 2023 and the EP8 motor failed in March 2024. Both replaced under warranty .Still e-MTB-ing through the winter but only two or three trips out a week at best.
