Verona ➡️ Heimat, 2021 🚴🤙

This morning shortly before 8 o'clock my train started from Munich to Verona. Yesterday there was such bad weather in MUC that no activity was possible. Just go out to eat and have a (couple of) beers.

Today's tour is fully under the influence of the wonderful Castello Beseno, which yesterday I was only allowed to admire from the valley.



This morning I started around 8:30 a.m. and arrived at the castle shortly before 9:00 a.m. The increase immediately got the circulation going! At less than 2 kilometers… meer lezen

This morning after breakfast I started immediately and didn't stop at Sigmundskron Castle. The man from the hotel said yesterday that the castle doesn't open until 10 a.m. and that you can easily spend 2-3 hours there. Since I'm going to Schenna in September anyway, I simply postponed my visit to this… meer lezen

This morning there was a funny sight at the window while having breakfast: A soldier drives past on an ancient Dutch bike ... I had to smile! ;-)



Anyway, I started the tour at 8 a.m., as rain was announced for Lienz from 1 p.m. today.

Tonight was pretty restless. I had a room right under the roof and slept badly after all that came down from the sky ... At breakfast the weather still looked bad. Either I hurried and drove as far as I could, or I waited until the afternoon for the coming rain to stop. But since I don't like slouching… meer lezen

This morning when I checked the weather everything looked fine. It shouldn't rain, just around 10-11 a.m. clouds. So nothing seemed to stand in the way of a great day.



I drove off in wonderful sunshine, the temperatures were wonderful and there was no sign of clouds (for the time being) either!

This morning in Klagenfurt consisted of: Breakfast, washing clothes! Take a nap! Check the weather! Having lunch!



In the afternoon the weather stabilized, which is why I set out to circumnavigate the Wörthersee!



That was great, including a few trails and forest paths on the south bank!

The 3 "G" are on everyone's lips at the moment. These are not the namesake of my round trip, but the confluence of the two rivers Glan and Gurk near Gurnitz!



More was not possible today due to the weather here in Klagenfurt. This morning I decided to stay a day longer, because it should rain all day… meer lezen

My alarm clock rang at 6 a.m. this morning. Woke up, it's raining, turned around again! Alarm clock set to 6:30 a.m.! Woke up, no precipitation, breakfast!

This morning when I started in St. Paul, I was very pleased because the sun was laughing! The Lavantradweg was great. You can drive there wonderfully along the river and hardly noticeably take one or two meters of altitude with you!

Knittelfeld this morning: Rain! The reason why I had an extensive breakfast and had a short / longer chat with the owner of my place of residence.

The idea today, before I get on the train to Vienna, to ride my bike to Bad Radkersburg, came from the wine yesterday! :-))



Quickly loaded the ÖBB app, booked the ticket including bike reservation for the Railjet and off we went ...

One thing first: I don't know why the Danube Cycle Path is also signposted as a towpath and I just accept it, so I can't help explain ... :-))



Yesterday I stayed right next to the train station in Vienna and the morning trip to the southern tip of the Danube Island was very easy. The signage was great… meer lezen

Today was supposed to be a quiet one and it was! :-)



I took my time at breakfast so that the sun would still come out nicely to get better photos of the castle ruins.



The way up was only mobile on the tarred piece, the rest was pushing. Downhill exactly the same, as it was too slippery on the coarse gravel… meer lezen

In Ybbs I took my time, as I had only planned just over 50 kilometers today. I drove towards Greinburg on the southern side. This should also be done because on the north side of the bike path runs directly on the busy main road. I felt really sorry for the… meer lezen

After I started this morning in Mauthausen, the first thing I did was pay a visit to the Spilberg castle ruins. Unfortunately the light was still bad (in the afternoon it would be better there) and as soon as I stopped the mosquitoes attacked me. Ergo: A few photos and let's go ... :-)

This morning in Schlögen. Cool and cloudy, but very good air! I started at 9 o'clock as the ferry only started its service at that time!



As far as Passau it went directly along the Danube, with another ferry crossing at Engelszell!

Yesterday I got the idea of doing a big stage today and staying for 2 days in the beautiful Beilngries in the Altmühltal. I made it a condition that I got through well in the morning and be in Regensburg around lunchtime. Since this worked, I decided to drive the 170 kilometers to the end and sleep at… meer lezen

On my "cycling break day" today I just wanted to take a walk to the Plankstetten Monastery, a wonderful, fully organic Benedictine monastery, 5 kilometers north of Beilngries. I had to spend… meer lezen

What was it for a wonderful cycling day today? :-))



Nice and cool early in the morning, but a mix of sun and clouds! A relatively gusty southwest wind was blowing, which is why I decided not to fight it after a short distance, but simply to accept it and to drive to Pappenheim in peace.
