Reading to Bristol, off-road via The Ridgeway

An overnighter starting from Reading Station and heading west to Bristol via King Alfred's Way, The Ridgeway, The Wessex Ridgeway Trail, the Kennet and Avon canal, Two Tunnels Greenway and Bristol to Bath path.Loads of off-road and some absolutely lovely gravel with very little traffic. Surprisingly gentle climbs, on day 1 especially. The route stays clear of civilisation for most of Day 1 so grab supplies at Reading, Goring and Wantage on the first day. Day 2 has stops at Avebury National Trust Cafe (check opening times), Devizes, Bradford on Avon and Bath.You could overnight somewhere in Wantage or wild camp along the route.Would recommend a gravel or XC bike but there’s nothing overly technical. Some of the sections are a little rough here and there but with 40mm tyres or so you should be fine. The route includes Pipehouse Lane near the very end, near Bath, which is a little rougher and looser than some gravel routes - but can easily be diverted. We rode this in August and conditions were perfect - I'd be less excited about all that white dirt and chalky, flinty rock in the winter!
