The Broch and old Stones collection

A revisit! with a tip off as to the location and I found it! It really needs the attention of those who protect Scottish heritage. The overgrowth is inundating and gradually damaging the Broch remains.

Much of the dense overgrowth of Rhododendron has been cleared but I couldn't find the Broch Site, I wonder if it's been destroyed during the extensive clearance. A local told me the recent clearance procedure was 'brutal' using heavy machinery. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leckie_Broch

Out to find some Standing Stones AKA Wallace's Stones up on Sheriffmuir. Extended tour to a loop up to Braco, back via Dunblane. The Stones are unusual being lined up, there was thought to be five but I only found the four with only one still standing. megalithic.co.uk/article.php?sid=340

Another run round the Ochils. Picked up on a visit to two Neolithic Stones, one of which is known as the 'Symbol Stone' this one includes a grid pattern and some other less distinct marking, thought to be Pictish in Origin. Ik heb deze locatie eerder bezocht, maar miste een deel van de structuur (Turrets) die ook de Wallace Stone aanriep: -)

Always a sore one! Particularly after all the others! :-)

Leuke kleine lus naar Oldmeldrum en terug kwam onderweg een Stone Circle tegen. Deed wat heidense bezweringen bij de Cirkel. 😁
