Komen - Poperinge via the North Trail

This trip is a discovery of the Marais d'Opale starting and ending in Flemish train stations. It is based on the left leg of the North Trail (komoot.nl/collection/903226/-the-north-trail). We slept in Licques and the beautiful Montreuil, city of Jean Valjean. We relied on supermarkets for food as a lot of local shops are (permanently) closed, although there's always a PMU café for coffee on the road.The trip contains steep climbs, off-road descents and narrow paths. Make sure you are ready for trips like these. The third day contains some sections where the path/road has vanished and where you ride through the fields. Especially the first half of day 3 is tough and slow. Be aware, there are quite a bit of thorny branches in the woods. Tubeless tires are recommended. The beauty lies in the variety of landscapes and types of roads: wetlands, woods, straw fields, the sea and the côte d'Opale, old towns and cities, godforsaken canals...
