'Architektouren' in Berlin

... Today in the late afternoon I have now completed the small but fine third and final walk on the theme 'settlements of Berlin Modernism'. Since Siemensstadt is located right next to the narrow Siemenspark and the larger Volkspark Jungfernheide, it made sense to include both.

... In addition to my theme hike 'Settlements of Modernism Berlin' from last Sunday, today I have two other UNESCO World Heritage housing developments in Berlin connected by a tour, the horseshoe settlement in Britz and the garden city Falkenberg in Bohnsdorf.

... today a longer walk through Moabit and Gesundbrunnen with the goal of combining the two historic AEG turbine factories built by the architect Peter Behrens in the early 20th century.

... only a small Berlin tour today partly in the pouring rain, together with Jana. The goal was the 'mouse bunker', which served as a research facility for experimental medicine (in plain language: animal testing laboratory) of the FU and thus something of (West) Berlin's dystopian spawn of brutalism… meer lezen

... aangezien ik niet met volle teugen van Pinksteren wilde genieten, ging ik vandaag 'op de stoep' als alternatief op deze brute stadstour door Berlijn.



Sinds drie dagen staat de 'Mouse Bunker' (voormalig dierenlaboratorium van de FU/Charité) eindelijk onder monumentenzorg als een van de meest controversi… meer lezen

... vandaag had ik tijd voor nog een uitgebreide stadstour met enkele architecturale parels van brutalisme in Berlijn op korte termijn in de middag. Ik heb me beperkt tot de districten Charlottenburg, Moabit, Wedding en Gesundbrunnen. Wat voor mij erg interessant was, was de mix van klassiekers uit de… meer lezen

... minder dan '4 blokken' van elkaar verwijderd op deze tour zijn vaak de gebieden van getoonde rijkdom en bittere armoede, ik was opnieuw zeer verbaasd door de combinatie van de buurtfragmenten.
