Regnitz Cycle Path — 4 stages between Nuremberg and Bamberg

Green river meadows and densely overgrown banks at the playful Regnitz. Historic water wheels, cozy benches for breaks and charming places with pretty half-timbered houses along the river. And cutting right through the middle of it all: a cycle path that shows you both watercourses on two routes.

The Regnitz cycle path runs in two directions between Nuremberg and Bischberg near Bamberg. The valley route runs for 52 miles (85 kilometers) along the Regnitz and the 46-mile (75-kilometer) long canal route runs along the Main-Danube Canal. Both routes can be combined to form a varied round trip between Nuremberg and Bischberg — and this is exactly what we show you in this Collection.

In Nuremberg, a city easily reachable by train, the almost completely-flat round trip begins. From here, you'll cycle on the valley route via Fürth, Erlangen, Forchheim and Bamberg to Bischberg, where the Regnitz and the Main-Danube Canal flow into the Main. The canal route takes you back to Nuremberg. As you go, you'll cycle a total of 100 miles (160 kilometers) over four stages. In all stage destinations, you'll find numerous accommodation options that cover all price ranges. You'll also have the possibility to jump on a train if you need to truncate your trip for any reason. If, on the other hand, you have much more time, you can combine the Regnitz cycle path in Bamberg with an even longer ride: The Main Cycle Path.
