Today I wanted to know exactly, went yesterday's tour again alone and recorded it with 5 cell phones at the same time in order to have comparative values.
A Samsung S3, two S7, an S10 and an S20 were in use. Marlies was registered for two and I for three.
To avoid questions about why we have 5 cell phones…
very interesting. the respective gps receivers in your mobile phones seem to receive or process differently. a longer hike would certainly be even more interesting and informative for a comparison. but awesome up to here! thanks for posting! i notice the differences between iphone, android and my gps…
Thank you - such a test is really fun and it's exciting to see what comes out of it
;)
Nice comparison and that the S3 still works so well is great. 👍
Tomorrow I will compare Garmin watch and S10 + on a longer tour.
Wonderful comparison, but I don't see that big differences now. The few meters would be more fatal on the water. Nice that you did that. Great idea, I'm looking forward to further comparisons.
And nice photos!
It would be interesting to see now whether the given hearts of the comparison tours are counted :))
It would be interesting if you could lay the tours on top of each other, think that they are certainly not completely congruent.
This should explain the distance and altitude deviations.
Tip top idea from you👍
Everything is normal there. Stop within the theoretical accuracy of GPS. If you need more accurate altitude meters, you must use a barometric measurement. Some smartphones offer this, otherwise take a Garmin explicitly for hikers / mountaineers. Garmin Montana, for example.
Is very interesting. I would like to say, if sometimes I start Komoot in the garage before putting on gloves, then the mobile phone looks for a GPS signal and if it finds it, it peaks on the map, don't know exactly, but think 30-50 meters
Moin moin, thank you very much for the test results. Many greetings Regina
