One of the three most difficult sections along the Sierra High Route is the ascent (from either side) to Milestone Pass, an extremely steep ridge. I know what you mean. Easy if you're uploading photos on the spot (DSLR with WLAN). But I remember how this was with my 3 days canoe trip. Sometimes it's getting too much.
