NSG "Oberer Herrenteich"

Mooie vijver met veel waterlelies.

De Herrenteich in Reinfeld dankt zijn bestaan aan de cisterciënzermonniken die in de 12e eeuw in het gebied van het moerassige laagland van de Heilsau het klooster "Reynevelde" stichtten. De Heilsau ontspringt in de buurt van het huidige Stockelsdorf (district Ostholstein) en mondt uit in de Trave onder Reinfeld. De monniken kapten het bos, legden kleinere visvijvers aan en namen de opgraving om de dam te gebruiken om de Heilsau af te dammen naar de Herrenteich, zodat ze daar karpers konden kweken. Ook vandaag de dag wordt de Herrenteich gebruikt voor de karperteelt en wordt daarom in oktober van elk jaar gedurende 3 - 4 weken drooggelegd in verband met het karperfestival van de stad Reinfeld. Alleen de Heilsau baant zich als een dun lint een weg door het oppervlak van de vijverbodem.

The NSG "Oberer Herrenteich" includes the large area of water, the adjoining reed beds as well as willow swamps, alder forests, wet meadows and dry hills.The Herrenteich in Reinfeld, Stormarn district, owes its origin to the Cistercian monks, who founded the “Reynevelde” monastery in the swampy lowlands of the Heilsau in the 12th century. The Heilsau rises near today's Stockelsdorf (Ostholstein district) and flows into the Trave below Reinfeld.
Count Adolf had commissioned this Cistercian order in 1186 to make this “place of loneliness and horror”, according to the contemporary witness Probst Sido from Neumünster, arable. They cleared the forest, created smaller fish ponds and used the excavation to use the dam to build up the healing sau to the men's pond.Until the 16th century, the monks lived in Reynevelde Monastery, which had become rich and powerful due to its agriculture, forestry and above all pond management. The Reformation ended the work of the Order, which has greatly changed and shaped the landscape through the creation of over 60 ponds. The men's pond is still used for carp breeding and is therefore drained for 3-4 weeks in October every year in connection with the carp festival of the city of Reinfeld.
