Tips
  • The granite tablet shows in the left central part a bust image of Zilles. It was unveiled on 9.1.2009 by district councilor Katrin Framke.
The initiative for the stone comes from the working group history in the forum Weitlingkiez.
Because it is made of light granite and was inserted directly next to a tree slice in the small mosaic pavement, it is almost invisible.
"In 1872, Zille's father, Lichtenberger landowner Albert Roeder, acquired a piece of land along Grenzweg 8 (now Fischerstraße). Here he built a modest cottage, which was destroyed in 1944 during a bombing raid.
In this house Zille's sister Fanny died in 1894, his mother in 1908 and his father in 1909. "(Lichtenberger Monatsblatt, March 1994 and September 1995) According to entry in the death register of the registry office Boxhagen-Rummelsburg No. 433/1895 dated 30.9.1895 Fanny Luise Zille died a year later, on or shortly before September 26, 1895. Further documents on the family of Heinrich Zille can now be found on the internet at heinrich-zille.info/certificates.html.
Zille lived in the family home Lichtenberger Kietz 38 (today Fischerstraße 8) from 1873-1884.
"Lichtenberger Kiez" seems to have been a collective name of the settlement in the area of several of today's streets, whose houses were numbered. After his wedding with Hulda Frieske, daughter of the Nadlermeister Frieske from Fürstenwalde, on 15.12.1883 the couple lived until 1887 Lichtenberger Kietz 13 in a basement apartment (today Lückstraße 31), then 1887-88 Schillerstraße 29 (today Pfarrstraße 134).
Here, under the first window to the left of the entrance, there is a ceramic panel with a red header:
    Heinr. Zille 1887/88
and the depiction of a typical Zillean children's scene underneath. 1889-1891 was the address Prinz-Albert-Straße 4 (Nöldnerstraße) and 1891-92 Mozartstraße 1 (Geusenstraße 16). It was not until 1892 that the couple settled in Charlottenburg.
