Lello- historische Buchhandlung

It's not the impressive selection of literature that makes the Lello bookstore in Porto so famous. Visitors from all over the world are much more likely to be amazed at the impressive architecture of the shop.
It is no coincidence that Livraria Lello is one of the most beautiful bookshops in the world.
From the outside, the building in Rua das Carmelitas near the old town looks inconspicuous. Inside, an architecture reveals itself as from another world. The highlight is the curved wooden staircase that leads you to the upper floors. The entire Lello bookstore is flooded with light.
A large glass ceiling with historical window paintings lets the shop shine in a special light.

The Lello bookstore is rightly one of the most beautiful bookstores in the world. The beautiful wooden paneling and the colorful glass ceiling are well worth seeing, but everything is trumped by the fantastic wooden staircase that swings up in the middle of the room.
The tickets are available in the ticket shop on the side street. If you buy something at Lello, the entrance fee is deducted.
It is best to plan your visit early in the morning or in the late afternoon. Otherwise it can be very crowded.

Apart from the bookstore this is just a really neat place to walk around.
