Gräftenhof Ehling

"The manor house of the Gräftehof Ehling in Recklinghausen-Suderwich was built in 1836 in the typical half-timbered style at that time.In 1904, the manor house was extensively rebuilt and provided the framework of the outer walls with cement plaster.
2009-11, the listed Grächenhof was redeveloped. The eaves, cornices and window coverings were reconstructed according to a historical model and the facades in the original sand color tones were renewed. The complete east facade and faulty wooden structures, some of them trusses have been replaced. The gable ends were given a supporting wooden framework from the inside.
About half of the building is basement to the north and was originally used as a cold storage. As part of the renovation, new basement windows and seals for all cellar openings and an exhaust air system were installed.
Due to many reconstruction measures in the history of the Größenhof, interior walls and ceilings were executed in different wood-clay constructions and could now largely be returned to their original state during renovation. The ceiling gaps between the top storey ceilings, which were previously filled with straw chaff, were replaced by new suspended ceilings. Depending on the state of preservation, the wooden compartments were replaced or supplemented by masonry and restored with clay plaster in several layers.
The old electrical cables were replaced by new cables; the non-defective, old wall and floor tiles in the ground floor corridor supplemented by historical Nachbrände.
During the renovation special emphasis was placed on preserving the historic overall impression of the Gräftenhof. The wide oak floorboards in subareas of the upper floor, which were repaired, sanded and treated with hard oil, also contribute to this. The single-pane exterior windows could be obtained by a complete overhaul. In some cases, however, historic windows and patio doors as well as some interior doors with their door reveals were recreated. "Source: baukunst-nrw.de
