The city of Nuremberg in Bavaria is surrounded by wonderful landscapes that lend themselves to cycling. Following cycle paths, you can discover Franconian Switzerland, roam the impressive Hassberge Nature Park, explore countless vineyards, cross the Fichtel Mountains, and enjoy the picturesque Pegnitz Valley. In between this untouched nature, historical towns offer a welcome respite and an abundance of culture.
In this Collection, we present the eight most beautiful day trips through this spectacular scenery as tipped by VGN, Nuremberg's train and bus network. Ranging in length from 16 to 57 miles (26 to 92 km), the routes take you along former railway lines and traffic-free paths through quiet nature. You can experience the calming effect of nature to the fullest as you roll through wide fields, colourful meadows, and enchanting forests. The undulating landscape boasts unforgettable views and when the hills have tired your legs, you can take a well-earned break at a wild swimming lake, in a beer garden, or historic town square.
All the routes can be reached by regional trains, local trains, or bicycle buses, meaning you can travel to the cycle paths stress-free. You have many opportunities to hop on a train en route making it easy to shorten your adventure. If you run out of time or your legs get tired, you can catch a train through the beautiful landscapes instead.
To ensure that all leisure-seekers reach their destination safely during the current Coronavirus crisis, please bear in mind the following when travelling in VGN transport:

- Wear a face mask inside the bus and train.
- The customer service centre opening hours are currently limited.
- Bus drivers will not sell tickets. Please buy your tickets in advance via the app, at a ticket machine, or online.
