Luxembourg & Belgium Backpacking Trip with Friends

On this trip that we’d been planning for a long time, we start off from Luxembourg towards Orval near the border between Belgium and France to visit one of the most famous abbeys in the region with its beautiful gothic architecture. After having enjoyed local beer brewed by monks at the abbey and the wide range of regional cheese selection, we continue with a short ride to stay at a B&B near French border. Next day, we continue north through Belgian Luxembourg territory to our next stop - Le Coffee Ride. Situated in the heart of the Belgian Ardennes, home ground of many road cyclists, we arrive on time to enjoy sunset over ice cold local beers followed by their flavorful BBQ selection that we share with fellow two-wheel lovers around the firepit outside the hostel. On the last day, our group of intrepid cyclists set out on a journey of discovery without being too harsh on the legs. Morning loop ride includes a stunning roadway that winds its way through ancient Ardennes forests, with towering trees rising up on all sides and up into the mist-shrouded hills beyond. Despite its few challenging climb, the breathtaking views from the hilltops make it worthwhile. We'll refuel with a hearty breakfast and some freshly brewed coffee, before setting off once again. Before arriving at Ettelbruck after 4.5h closing ride, we have a short stop at the charming town of Clervaux to grab snacks at the garden of Castle of Urspelt while enjoying its quaint architecture. Finally, we push the pedals one last time to make it to the train station where we catch an evening train (free!) home. As we say our goodbyes to this incredible journey, we'll know that we've shared an experience that will stay with us for a lifetime.
