Bahnradwege in der Eifel

First stage of the train cycle tour through the Eifel. The actual project was a bike tour 🚲 on ex-railway lines from Aachen to Trier, with arrival and departure by train 🚉. But why not start cycling straight home and get back there.

The second stage of the railway cycle tour leads directly to Monschau-Mützenich on the Belgian Vennradweg No. L48.



It's funny that the bike path, like the former Vennbahn line, is part of the Belgian territory and that the German territory here is virtually limited by the width of the railroad line.

After a good night's sleep in the hotel in Winterspelt, after a short downhill ride, we come to the Eifel-Ardennes cycle path on the ex-railway line from St. Vith to Pronsfeld. Much of the railway junction is still left in Pronsfeld as a museum. Worth seeing! 👏

This stage leads along the Sauer river to the Moselle. And yes: there used to be a railway line here, and nowadays you sometimes cycle on it. Especially in the FFH area you can still see the high brick retaining wall on the former railway line.

We take the bike path from Ruwer to Schweich. Here we branch off in the direction of Wittlich.

Tip: The short detour to the pilgrimage church in Klausen is very worthwhile. A very important pilgrimage destination for many believers!

From Wittlich the "Maare-Mosel-Radweg" takes us on the former railway… meer lezen

From Daun, the Mineralquellen-Radweg connects the former railway line between Hillesheim and Dümpelfeld an der Ahr. But because of guilt, we take the long ramp to the Kirchberg and then return to Bad Münstereifel via Schönau. 🙋🏻‍♂️
