I've been working with komoot for the past four years, but as Americans, Rue and I haven't had a chance to meet most of the team in Europe. Gaby and I were talking in the spring about connecting for an overnighter, and she had moved with her family to Morzine in the French Alps a few months ago. With COVID-19 in mind, we penciled in a weekend to get together while Rue and I were planning to be in Europe for the Hope 1000 in Switzerland. As the time grew closer, it looked like a go and the trip grew to a great group of eleven riders from the UK, France and Sami from Spain. We had a total blast. The first day, we took cover from a thunderstorm in Les Gets, had lunch at the Buvette and climbed steep, loose gravel to the Bostan Refuge. We were the only people at a hut that sleeps 80! It poured with rain overnight and we were happily inside and cozy. The next day was spent mostly descending, but it was still a tough one at that. Spirits were high and we made it back by mid afternoon. While in the area, I got to meet up with a few other friends and ride with Gaby's kids to school twice. What a fun trip! Thanks for putting everything together so thoughtfully, Gaby. It was really great to get to know the crew and I hope we can come back again soon!
